Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra
With a newly composed and ferociously relevant work by Ann-Sofi Söderqvist.
The point of departure for the new work, Movements, is refugees and human vulnerability: the tension between an individual’s hopes for a better life and the power of opposing forces – as well as the strength of the natural forces that refugees confront in the ocean. The work also contains poetry.
Conductor Katarina Andreasson is also a violinist, principal concertmaster in the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and professor of musical performance at Örebro University. Rising star Christina Nilsson studies at the University College of Opera in Stockholm, but has already garnered significant attention in Sweden and internationally. The young pianist Alice Power is also a sensation and has already won international competitions.
Executive Director Stefan Forsberg serves as the concert’s host and escort through the programme.
